John Bonifaz needs two things in order to get on the September ballot: 5,000 certified signatures from Massachusetts voters, and 15% of the delegate vote at this weekend's Democratic State Convention. Today, the first one of those is done.
Our grassroots campaign set an ambitious goal: to collect more than twice as many "raw" signatures as we need certified. You helped us exceed the goal by collecting 11,000 signatures! Today, Bonifaz submitted over 7,000 certified signatures to the state - and we have another 2,000 to submit before the June 6th deadline.
"Our campaign is about the people of Massachusetts," said Bonifaz, "and the voters of the Commonwealth – from the Berkshires to the Cape – have made a profound statement in this show of support. They are ready for a different kind of Democrat, one who fights for the citizens and small businesses of Massachusetts.”
“I am also extremely thankful to the over 100 volunteers who came together to collect these signatures. We look forward to continuing the momentum of this grassroots campaign into the Massachusetts Democratic Party’s convention this weekend.”
On to the convention!
